John and Laura's Wedding, March 30 2008

Yes, I have my Scottie back. He came back last night and not a minute too soon. We stayed up to 1:30 am because he had so much he wanted to share about his trip and I had so much to talk about my weekend. Yesterday was a very full day. I've been working nights and then running crazy in the mornings. I canceled on a baby birthday party and stayed home just to catch a quick nap before heading off to Hale Koa hotel for John and Laura's wedding.

I always attend the friday night church service so I hadn't met laura before she started asking about wedding services. But, now that I have met her, I just think she is the most adorable thing. She's sweet and so easygoing. Her fiance (ahem...I mean husband) John, looks so serious and then he opens his mouth and it is wisecrack after wisecrack. He's really funny (and I'm married to Scott so I just everyone by his humor). And she just laughs and laughs.

I volunteered to help with their ceremony, because (1) I've been too busy to feel like I was really devoting enough time to helping them plan it and (2) I've never really seen Ralph perform a wedding. I mean, he did mine, but it was all kind of a blur and I don't remember much of it.

The only hitch I could see was they were really on the fence about having a communion. Not a big deal, unless they decided at the last second they wanted communion and I wasn't ready. Second hitch in the plans is that the parking lot is far away from the ceremony site. So, a tired me had to improvise...with a collapsible wood dinner tray and I needed a solid clean fabric to cover it, so I pulled down my curtain. Oh, if they only knew. There was a bottle of wine in our wine chiller, it could have been ours, it have been Stanton's, but, whatever, I opened it. Never opened a bottle of wine before in my life. Didn't know that you were supposed to unwrap label at the top before you try to remove the cork. Kept trying to pull that wine opener out and it would just rip through the cork. Thankful that there were not little pieces of cork floating in the wine.

I'm not supposed to make recommendations to people under my position as the wedding coordinator for the church. But, personally, I loved the Hale Koa as a wedding venue. Mind you, the last wedding I helped at was at Ko Olina and my standards are pretty low after that one. But they were unbelievable attentive and gracious. John left the wedding CD in his car and I really should have known to just bring my back up but I didn't think of it until I was halfway to Waikiki. He's trying to figure out how to get his brother to go look for it...and bam...the hotel staff is stepping in...they have wedding music...and it's the same songs that Laura wanted. The sound system was excellent. The best I've heard in an outdoor ceremony.

The wedding photographer was also really nice. What really struck me about the photographer, Alyssa, was that she was very personable and melded right in. She was calling everyone by name (not just the bride and groom) and she didn't draw attention to herself during the ceremony.

Ralph has a policy about starting weddings a little late. To give everyone a chance to be there. 15 minutes before the schedule ceremony start, the bride was itching to go. She wanted to start. She looked at all the seats that were filled and said "let's start, everyone is here." Laura laura, let's wait a little, you're still early. Five minutes later and 20 more guests have filtered in. "Let's go, that's everybody." Are you sure, Laura...let's just give it a little more time...now there is a whole crowd of guests. She was so excited that we just had to cue Ralph and start it. It was really cute and funny.

If I was to get married again (to the same guy), I would consider getting married at the exact same place. I was really glad when it was over, because I had a long day and just wanted to get in my pajamas and lie in bed...but I was also happy because Scott was coming home. *sigh*

Don't be surprised if you don't see a cat

Scott is still gone...gone gone to the second best island of Maui (das right, Big Island no ka `oi)...and he took all the cool people I like to hang out with (wait, might that be insulting to the people who are here on Oahu....sorry, of course you are included as part of the cool people)....so I miss him and I have no one to distract myself with. I'm so jealous, I'm planning a two day outing to Big Island in April if anyone wants to come along. Volcano and Waipio Valley. `Nough said.

Our friend and wedding photographer, Nely Fok, is back in town and John-John suggested I ask if I could tag along and watch her work. And, this morning she was doing a portrait session with Megan and her cute little Catholic girl/man-loving cat called "frankie." Unfortunately, Frankie must have sensed I'm not a cat person because she was absolutely set against being in the same room as Nely and me. Hmmm...might have been Nely's laugh and the fact that she almost stepped on the cat multiple times. Nah, it seems to be the sound of the camera shutter that had her spooked.

So, I occupied myself by taking pictures of Megan's furniture. Seriously, if she ever needs it...for whatever strange, out-there reason...I have photos of all her major furniture pieces. And her home does look very beautiful...Nely named it "Pier 1."
(it might not be a cat...but it stays still and it is just as cute)

Ugh, so much to do before tomorrow. I have to cover the children's choir practice and 10 am service song practice for Troy, make more copies of the CD's, sing in the choir, and then run a wedding in the afternoon, dinner with Ted and Mike, and then off to the airport to pick up Scott.

Doesn't really seem like a day off.

Do you like to fluff it up or do you like the wedge? (Memoirs of marriage part 1)

Pre-marital counseling hit the major points but left out some of the little and finer points that you don't discover until you're drenched in marital bliss. One thing we learned Scott and I differ on is the answer to this question:

Do you like the "wedge method" or do you like the "fluff method?"

And, yes, you guess it, we are talking about that wonderful starchy fluffy concoction "rice." I usually like to just cut a wedge of rice and plop the whole wedge on my plate...Scott likes to use a rice paddle and fluff the entire pot of rice. Eh, so minahs. I thought so too until two months into our marriage (i guess that is when the honeymoon fades), it hit me one morning that I hate "fluffed rice." I'm always trying to race to get my rice before someone fluffed it and I'd be so bummed if I didn't make it in time. We had to come up with some sort of compromise...he'll always save me a wedge and fluff up the rest.

Geez, they should cover important things like this in those marriage books.

I've come to realize...

I truly don't like the beach. I love the "during" feeling, but it's the after sandy/salty feeling I hate.

It's my three day weekend in the middle of the week and Scott had yesterday off because of Easter Monday. So we invited my sister and nieces over. She only brought 1 out of the 3 nieces because the other two snuck out the night before. Oooh, so naughty. I lived in a dorm and I only snuck out once in high school. My friends and I sat in the Maluna baseball field dugout for twenty minutes and then went back to bed cause we weren't really sure what you were supposed to do once you were "out."

We tried to dig a pool in the sand for Lauren and she did like it...but she also like crawling in the edge of the water. It's funny but she gets on her stomach and squirms backwards towards the waves until the water rushes up and hits her. She kind of looks like a turtle. When we went off to shower, Scott stepped on a bee and got stung. When he was younger, the doctor did a skin test and told him he was allergic to bees. He used to carry an anaphylactic shock kit around but he said it was so old that he just threw it away. So we were a little worried and kept an eye on him. His foot swelled up and he started getting hives around his neck but it didn't get any worse...so I guess God was watching him.

( I think she ate some sand)
Scottie and lauren in the sand...

she has a new bathing suit...love the bow!
(I call this her filipino bathing suit...she is filipino...waipahu too)
she loves the sand...I hate the sand.
(in the hole scott dug for her...played with textures...but I didn't do anything to her eyes...they're reflecting something cool)

that night we had a fun and very very LOUD dinner to celebrate Nely's visit to Hawaii with appearances by Rachel x 2, Stacia, Erin, Tisha(In order of increasing decibals)and many other fun, but maybe quieter people...check out Scott's blog for that one.

Stir crazy at work...Happy Easter!!!

Oh, I'm getting restless. It's Easter Sunday, everyone is at my house having fun and I'm at work. Well...I caught up with a lot of work and now I'm watching the clock tick until 11 pm.

At my job, when you find any type of fingerprints, you transfer them to cards and then you turn them in to the Identification Section. I have lost count of how many of those fingerprint cards I have turned in. They publish a list of "print hits" of all the prints the find matches too. I check every week and nothing...we're lucky if one of our guys gets on the list just once. This week I come in...WOO HOO!!! My name is on that list. FIVE TIMES!!! That's right, baby!!!

It totally validates your job and makes you feel like you're having an impact.

I was so tempted to take a picture of it for my keepsake box...but I'm pretty sure that is a violation of policy. So, I'm reduced to staring at it and taking mental photos.

Let's just say she not named after Hannah Montana!!!

Friday, March 21st, 2001...a very Good Friday indeed!!!

Our lovely friends, Kanani and Carl, are increasing the workload for the children's church ARK. Yesterday was the arrival of little Samantha Maile...pronounced like "Miley" for those of you who also mistakenly thought that she was named after Miley Cyrus. Believe me, I am also slightly disappointed. But I'm glad that she has a strong hawaiian name...that way she can attend Kamehameha Schools and abandon her "english" name. We all do it, it's a requirement for admission.

We visited Kanani and Samantha today. They chose Samantha because it is the feminine version of the name "Samuel." And Samuel heard from God. I think their name choice was really blessed. When we arrived, she was a cute little bundle of hiccups...loud hiccups that sounded like little yipping barks. She didn't stop. Then as I held her, I just prayed out loud over and over again "Jesus, please stop the hiccups" while rubbing her back. And, she stopped. Oooh, this one is going to change the world.

Also there was Amber and Jessica. Scott was over his cold from this last week but he didn't want to take chances. So he was banished to sit in the corner where I heard sick grandpa also had to sit. I think he was glad to be ousted though when the talk turned to topics like labor and breast-feeding.

Wake up little one!!!
Baby Samantha, wake up please

This is sign language for "give me the camera, Scott!!!"Give me the camera, Scott!!!
I really love this one where baby Sammie(I've decided to call her this) is staring up at AmberWho's that crazy girl holding you, Sammie? It's Auntie Amber!!!

Born on March 21st
Jessica came to visit. She is so photogenic. I told Scott she should be a model...and he said "I think she is." Look, you can catch a glimpse of Scott in this one. Can't you tell how thrilled he is about babies?

Look who's a month old!!!

Not me.
She was born on valentine's day and we took these pictures a little over a month later on Saint Patrick's Day. I think she'll run out of luck in April...what holidays are left?

Her mom, Liz, made the cupcake for Saint Patrick's Day. Jenny put it on the baby. She didn't even twitch. That baby can sleep. Kind of reminds me of Scott.

March-ing on with weddings

I'd like to welcome my assistant, Ashley Yuen. She helped me with the following pictures!!!
03-14-08 Wedding (8)
Photo 1: Our beautiful couple "M" and "B" visiting from New Jersey chose a dream wedding in Hawaii and we happened to be there to make it happen

Okay, first things first, I'm back. Sorry I've been away but there have been some personal and stressful situations this past week...not mine, but involving people I love and care about more than anything. So, keep the world in your prayers. It just reaffirmed just a spirit of pure gratefulness. As I was sitting in church, after skipping out on choir singing and children's rehearsal, I just felt depleted and defeated and I was so relieved to be able to sit in church and just receive restoration. I have God to lean upon. I have no idea how people out there who try to do it alone survive.

But before all the craziness started, my hubby had to perform a wedding. One of his good friends, Auntie Pauline, organizes weddings. The woman is amazing, she knows places on this island i've never even heard of. So she organizes and puts these things together and we just show up to do our parts. This time was slightly different because I convinced my 18 (or is she 19) year old niece to be my assistant. It was so helpful but it was really just a way to get her to come hang out with me and Scott and to be able to slip her a little spending money. She held my reflector (I bought it from Amazon) and we still don't know how the heck you're supposed to use it. We brought a second camera for her (Scott's) but it died on us.

march wedding 2 Photo 2: There's my hubby in action.
It's sad, I don't even get to hear his spiel anymore, I'm too busy running around them trying to get different shots.

Photo 3: We took a lot of pictures of the rings, but there is something simplistic and beautiful that makes this one my favorite.

march wedding 4 Photo 4: There was a bench under the awning. And I just asked them to sit and I think they kind of forgot all about me.

All these pictures were taken at Queen Lili`uokalani Gardens, under the shadow of Diamond Head near the Honolulu Zoo. I've never been there before. It was a charming little oasis, a homeless man sleeping on a picnic table nearby obviously thought so as well. He woke up to watch our certificate signing process.

Lauren at Kalama Beach

My older sister Cassandra is officially off work until her maternity leave is over. And the twins aren't coming til May so she has a while. So, yesterday (my day off) she and my oldest niece, Ashley, and my youngest niece, Lauren came over to visit the windward side. We ate lunch at my house first. My roommate, Vinnie, joined us. He originally thought he had to testify in court but turns out he had the day wrong. I bought furukake chicken from KJ's. The Waipahu girls loved it and then we went to the beach. I haven't been to the beach in years...it was a shock to my system. Plus, I remembered how much I hate sand. It gets everywhere. But it was a nice day and we found a prime parking spot at Kalama Beach Park in Kailua. Just down the road from the more infamous Kailua and Lanikai beaches.
Lauren has come a long way since being deathly afraid of the water. Now, she'll still cling to you but she loves it.

Photo 2: This is such a rare picture because she's actually looking at me and somewhat smiling. She's a lot more bubbly and talkative with Cassandra around. She's not saying any actual real words that we understand but she seems to think she is.
lauren beach 14 months 129 edit Photo 3: This is my favorite picture. She was just fascinated with sand. She just kept staring at it and picking at it. Can't you tell? She's covered in sand. She did learn a valuable lesson after she dropped her snack in the sand and she still tried to eat it. I just saw her make a face and stick out her tongue which was covered in sand and she spit out her banana puffed cereal.

Photo 4: This was my bright idea and I made Ashley and Cassandra help me set up the shot. But Lauren decided she was just not going to sit still. She kept getting up and leaving...darn it, once they learn to walk, it's a whole new ball game. But, for some reason, she did decide to do this little handstand and held it for a good minute and I thought it was still cute.

Guest Visit from Photographer Scott

No, these weren't by me. Scott gave me a paid-for certificate to get scuba diver certified (I don't even know the term) two somewhat years ago. It's still in it's original blue folder with the dive video the store wants back. But he did go diving yesterday with our friend, Keidi, the girl with short blonde hair in all the pictures. I'm super depressed to hear that Keidi will be leaving us for Florida by this summer, she came to our sleepover, and she is an AWESOME awesome girlfriend. Scott says the water is Keidi's element. Seasickness, however, is Scott's element. He was sick all day yesterday and said he even threw up during the boat ride. I think I made it worse. Last night, I made some curtains and wanted to put them up when I got home from work a little before midnight. Of course, the two windows are right over our bed....so I was trying to softly step over his head as I put the two curtains up but I guess I woke him up. He opened up one eye and growled "can you stop moving the bed...I'm getting seasick all over again." (or something to that effect)

Photo 1: Keidi somewhere under the water, I have no idea where they are.

Photo 2: Keidi completely ignoring the state laws that state you must stay at least fifteen feet from the endangered turtles (honu)

Nah, just joking...I mean the law is real...but one summer back home on the Big Island, me and my friends would grab onto the turtle's shells and make them pull us around underwater.

Photo 3: I'm thinking Keidi is on the left and that might be John-John on the right. I don't even know if he went, but there's some studly guy who looks like him.

The things people say

No photo...but this had me and Scott doubled over last night at 24.

I volunteered to help Mel run the children's church performance for Mother's Day in May. Only because I think "The Way I was Made" By Chris Tomlin would be real cute if sung by cute little kiddies. But my stress for the last six weeks is trying to get people together to make a recording of the new version that's a little more fitting for mother's day. It's been too hard to get people together to make a recording at church and our sound techs at church have changed twice in the past few months. I desperately needed something...anything by this Sunday so we had an impromptu recording at the church. Grant, who didn't even know the song, came and helped Scott on guitar. Clinton, thank goodness, he listened to the song on the CD and then me singing the lame words that me and Scott made up at 11 pm one night when I refused to let Scott go to sleep.

We had to sing two tracks (two slightly different versions) so Tom pressed record, gave us the thumbs up and we ran through the first track. It's kind of dark in the church and Tom was waaaaaay in the back behind all the soundboards. We finished...and I looked at Scott...okay, now what? So, Scott yelled out to Tom asking if he was ready for us to start the second track. No answer. Now we're all calling out to Tom, we couldn't even tell if he was really back there. Clinton (his brother), on drums, says " I think Tom wants us to keep going and just go right into the second track." So, feeling bad that we had all that dead space, we launch into the second song. I really was rocking that one. And just as we end and Clinton finishes his last drum roll, the back door opens and Tom walks in and asks "what are you guys doing?" Um, we weren't even being recorded. Good job, Clinton, that a way to guess what your brother wanted.

Then, much much later that night, we were working out at 24 after minichurch. Well, Jasen and Scott were working out. Jenny and I were trying to guess what the heck you were supposed to do those weight-lifting contraptions. I saw Jasen keep trying to snatch my CD Player (heck no I don't have an IPOD) and I kept grabbing it away and telling him not to listen to the CD. But Jasen, stubborn Jasen, he didn't listen. I saw him with my head phones on and the CD player and I started to rush over to him. But as I was walking over, he grimaced and pulled the headphones. He kind of made a face as he gave it to me and said "Ugh, I'm not really into that kind." Yah, thanks, Jasen, that was me singing on the CD. Oh, Scott was laughing so hard he almost killed himself with the weights he was trying to lift. Then, Jasen tried to backpedal when I told him it was me on the CD but it was too late. The first reaction is always the honest reaction.

Oh, I forgive him....I'm not a real big fan of my voice either.

More Baby Reeves

More photos of Baby Reeves...I don't have any more stories of him because I don't have.

So....random snapshots:

At our girls sleepover, Scott's little mini-fridge was buzzing loudly and I thought it distracting since we were having girl talk so I unplugged it. It is chock full of soda but, smart me, I deduced that the sodas were cold enough to last the night. It wasn't until the next day when Scott asked me what happened to his mango sherbet that I realized that I forgot about the little freezer that was a part of the fridge. The little freezer that was chock full of ice cream that we bought and Chrystie bought. Oops...now all our poor ice cream bars are misshapen and sad looking.

Baby Reeves

I have exceeded my limit of upload for Flickr for this month. So, the other photos of baby Reeves is just going to have to wait. Just a few more days and I can upload to my heart's content. We visited Erica today, brought her lunch, and met the little tyke. He was sleeping...in fact, he stayed asleep the entire time. Erica says he sleeps through everything...well, he did have to learn in utero to sleep with a mom who laughs like only Erica can.

Girls Sleepover- Before and After

Sleepover Party
Friday night, I had a girls sleepover at my house. My brother-in-law, Stanton, was going to be away at camp. My roommate Vinnie usually works nights. My husband said he could sleep at his mom's house, which left me with a house to myself. Yes, after living with all that testosterone, I could finally turn the tide. So, I invited as many girls as I could to come hang out and sleep over if they wanted. Unfortunately, as we got closer to this weekend, Vinnie then told me had national guard and had planned to not work during the night. Ummm, I told him "too bad...you can't stay here." It was tough love, sorry Vinnie. So he worked all night and went straight to National Guard. Then, my poor husband had his turn. He found out that he was slotted to fill in and preach the two saturday night services. Oh, sorry, babe, you can't stay here. You don't fit the main rule...gotta be a girl. So, after friday night church, he drove out to Camp Erdman for part of the Men's Retreat and slept in his car. Again, tough love.

My invite said dinner was at six and Deidre was there promptly at 5:45 pm. Then I found out that Joy couldn't make it (sick grandma), Ruthie couldn't make it (sick sister), and Keidi was going to be very very late (she was still out at sea protecting our coast). So when dinner rolled around, and it was just me, deidre, mel, and Jenny...I did think, this might be one of the saddest slumber parties ever. Especially since mel and deidre had to leave for church, though they promised to come back. But eventually the girls did finally start pouring in. A very pregnant Kanani arrived next, with two kids in tow. One of them suspiciously did not look very much like a girl, but I think everyone was kind enough to let it slide. Though, Mel and Jenny should have protested since Isaac managed to beat them at the Scene It Trivia game for Xbox. I started the game for him and had a lot of points...but still, we are talking about a little boy who can't read fast enough to play. He would just buzz in instantly and guess. And, darn it, if he wasn't right half the time.

And Kanani decided to freak me out by telling me that she was on medicine because she was having contractions all the time. Ummm, I don't think you can have the baby here. A lot of girls just came to talk story and talk story they did. My friend, Chrystie, from college and her sister, Malia, came....they're Waimanalo girls and soon there were always 10 to 12 girls sitting around our dinner room table...and they sat there talking for hours. I never even saw anyone get up for water or a bathroom break. And, they were laughing so much, you could hear them everywhere. I was a little worried about the noise but, oh, well, it was so worth it to see everyone getting to know each other. It sounded like like Oprah unplugged. Bow, Deidre, and Lisa stopped by and hung out....Robyn brought a friend, Erin. The girls who were willing to rough it and sleep over were Keidi, Natalie, Mel, Malia, Tricia, Angie, Jenny.

The girls who weren't staying over must have had fun because they all stayed until one and right after most of them had left...I was in the kitchen and I saw a police light cruise by very slowly and stop....and then it reversed and stopped right in front of our house. hee hee, we got called in for noise disturbance...hee hee. I wasn't really surprised, we were really loud, I thought it might happen. So, I went out in my pajamas and sweetly apologized to the nice officer in our garage. He was really really nice. I babbled something about how I was sorry and I understood the rules...I work for the police department, heck, my husband is a pastor (Scott was horrified that I dragged his name into the conversation, but at least, I didn't tell him what church we are at). I forgot to drop vinnie's name in there but it was late and I was tired. We were so blessed because we were all getting ready for bed so it was superquiet when he showed up...he just shrugged and said that he didn't hear anything and it wasn't anything. Whooo, sigh of relief.

I did think it was the funniest thing. I can't believe the police had to come try shut down my sleepover. I called Scott, who was sleeping in his car (did not think it was as funny as I did). He just keeps rubbing it in, that for 31 years, he and his brother have lived there and had parties and never had the cops show up...and it only took me six months.

But we girls giggled over it and then fell asleep watching "Love Actually." The next morning, we had a prize for the girl who slept in the latest. Darn it, I bet Malia would sleep in the latest but she woke up third to last. Then I turned the tv on but the volume was on maximum volume so that woke up Jenny. The prize, a Polariod photo printer (Scott bought it from a store closing sale)...went to...guess who....Tricia. We had breakfast together and...the sleepover ended but not really because four of us just stayed in our pajamas and watched Bobby Brown "Sleep-walk/pee" on "Gone Country" til Scott came home.

That was the sleepover. I think I made some new friends and I loved having them over...can't wait until the next one.

Playing with Photoshop

I was googling and found a thread on a photography forum about photo effects. But the greatest part was that you could download a file of photoshop actions to your computer.
"Go here http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...20&postcount=1 and down load Beau's look of lomo action. Run the action on a photo"

But you simply download the actions (its for photoshop CS, I haven't tried it with regular photoshop) and you play the action on your picture. It's so much fun. So this is a pic from last week, you may recognize the cute little face I already posted about but it's fun to revisit her.

Maryknoll Chemistry -Diet Coke and Mentos

Aaaagh, I can't ever forget my past...my roots have let me grow. I loved teaching because I loved the creativity and working with no boundaries...which probably brought about my end to teaching...because I work best in a job with boundaries. If I'm not given limits, I don't know when to stop working. Gone are the nights and weekends of being trolled up in my house grading and trying to come up with new material...Now, when the clock hits 3 pm, or 11 pm right now...I'm done. I go home, and watch tv...go to a movie...shocking, huh? But then, I look at my pictures and I sigh and ponder the good ole days.
Before, I couldn't post pictures because I am/was a teacher. Ooh, I wonder if I still can't. Oh, well, who you going tell? the police? too bad, I work there. ha ha.
These two photos are from our diet coke and mentos demonstration.
It's a very violent reaction, but there's nothing chemical about it. There is no change in the reactants involved, it is simply a physical reaction. A state of matter change.
All you need:
a 2 Liter bottle of Diet Coke (diet coke is easier to clean up than regular coke)
mentos
A index card
a long cylindrical tube
Notes: The most commonly used solution is coke/diet coke, but any carbonated drink will work. There are two types of mentos, use the mint ones, not the fruity ones. The fruity ones have a layer around it that keeps it from dissolving properly. For our tube, we used a test tube, but you can use a piece of paper or hand. Really you want something that gets the mentos in quickfire without clogging up.
Explanation: As the mentos hits the soft drink, it's outer coating starts to dissolve leaving behind a rough surface. The chemicals in the mentos also triggers a violent release of carbon dioxide. That's the key to this demo. All the carbon dioxide that's in the soda doesn't want to be there, it's held there by pressure. At this instance, it is being set free. As the first molecules of carbon dioxide are released, it changes the balance and all the carbon dioxide molecules change into a gas and spew out the bottle, taking soda with it and making a fountain.
It happens quickly so the faster you get the most mentos in there, the better. Thus the need for something that feeds the mentos one at a time(so they don't clog up) but very quickly. I think we got around 15 mentos in...before the fountain started spitting them out.
Photo 1: Here's C. Mochizuki (one of my favorite last names in my years of teaching) getting ready to pull the index card and drop the mentos in the coke.

PS. I love this picture because of Dexter jumping for joy. He's such a ham. And I notice that he's also wearing a non-Maryknoll sweater. Oooh, he never gave up trying to wear it every day.

So I posted these pictures on flickr so i can get them on my website. I'm getting addicted to checking them out on flickr. This is the second photo that got randomly commented on by a stranger and the second request for someone else to use it. I'm such a dork, I get so excited by that. You must know, I check out my counter website everyday and it's kind of like a popularity contest. I get real bummed when the counter graph goes down. Come one people, make that graph go up. Make my day!!!

PS. I got a root canal today!!! That means my tooth is dead. It sounds so dismal. But it means I can eat ice cream and drink cold milk again. Oh, that sounds delicious.

PSS. Sometimes if you search for your school on youtube.com...you find interesting videos that are obviously made during class. I can even hear my former fellow teachers trying to spread wisdom in the background. Oh, you sly computer-savvy teenagers.

I'm tired and my legs dont want to move...

I'm so so so tired. I got home late from work and then ate dinner at midnight. Scott and I were supposed to go to work out at the turbo kickboxing class this morning with Kevin and Keidi but I was way too tired this morning. When Scott tried to wake me up this morning, I gave him the cold shoulder and the evil eye. Then, man, as I was just slipping back to wondrous sleep under my warm comfy blankets, I heard the annoying, persistent knock of Kevin at the front door. I tried to ignore it but the second round of knocks dragged me out the door. I trudged to the front door and gave him a withering look. But it did wake me up, so I did go after all and I'm glad I did. It was a lot of fun...although, my legs don't ever want to used again and I'm sleepy again.
These are some more pictures from the double Hope chapel baby shower. This is Yvonne's granddaughter, Bella. The minute she came in the room, I just lit up and my whole goal was to introduce myself and then steal the baby. And, I did. And as a added bonus, she helped me win the final game. I had three bracelets but Ruby had four bracelets so I spent some time eyeing out everyone and saw Grace wearing two bracelets. So I carried Bella over and said "look, Grace!" And on cue, she giggled and said "oh, what a cute baby!" YAHOOO, thank you, Grace. Those bracelets are mine, and I pulled ahead to win. I love a good game well played.
Photo 1: I played around in Photoshop too much with this one. I tried to adjust her lighting so she wasn't overshadowed by the couch and shadows but I think the difference is too harsh in some areas and she looks like a cutout in a zoomed in version. So, no big version this time.

Photo 2: Here's a closer version...she is such a cutie. I wish I could have taken her home.

Happy Valentine's, Baby

Little "Haley Blake" born on Valentine's Day, February 14th, 2008.
baby haley worden 016 edit final

Our friends did a good job, huh? The little bundles of hope have begun to arrive. I must say, this was not the couple I would expect would have their first little girl on Valentine's. Such a cheesy and mushy holiday for so-not-a cheesy and mushy couple. Scott and I put our valentine morning celebration on hold to go visit the new proud papa and mama...and let's not forget the excited "tutu" Deb...so excited, she jiggled baby until her breakfast came out (the baby's breakfast, not Deb's). Oh, boy, I forgot babies like their milk to come and go both ways.baby haley worden 022 bw edit

Scott took this next photo, I figured, I should have a photo of myself somewhere in my own blog. I put her in this position and then I kind of got stuck. So I pretty much kept her there because fear kept me from attempting to pick her back up. At least I tried, Scott stayed a safe 3 feet away at all times. And there's the proud dad, Michael, who looked as if he was charged up and ready for anything. New fathers must produce some sort of alternate energy hormone.

Here Haley is snuggling with her little friend. Well, more like, I put the bear on top of her and what can she really do about it. I do swear, though, when I first put the bear wedged up against her, she gave it the side eye like "what the heck is that so close to my face?" I then felt compelled to move it to a less crowding position.

My advice: Sleep all day and night, baby...I wish I could. ~ Keao Sunaoka
